Peacemakers Help out at Playtimes

Some of our year 5 and year 4 children have applied for, and been interviewed to do the job of ‘Peacemaker’ at lunchtime and playtimes.  The children have been through a special training programme and know what it is they have to do to help others sort out small fall-outs at playtimes.  We have discussed with the children when they might want to involve an adult too.  It is not our intention to simply brush aside any problems the children might have and all adults are happy to get involved when the Peacemakers are having difficulty resolving disputes!  The idea behind this is to help children develop listening skills and empathy.  The children are working on a rota under the supervision of Mrs Butcher and Mrs Hardy, and so far are doing a really great job.
